XYLOPOLI THE AREA: Xylopoli is a village in Thessaloniki Prefecture with a population of about 800 permanent residents. It is located on the 46th kilometer of the old Thessaloniki – Serres national road, west of Mount Vertikos and at an altitude of 540 meters. It is a local municipality of the Lagadas Municipality and was the seat of the Kapodistrian Municipality of Lachanas until 2010. Until 1929 it was called Ligovani.
