Location:
The quiet and luxurious holiday resort of Messonghi is located about 20 km south of Corfu Town, in a beautiful setting. There are some tourist facilities here, but you can still feel the charming village atmosphere. The village is located at the mouth of a river next to a beautiful beach. The village's gently sloping sandy beach is ideal for swimming and there are also water sports schools.
The land is well irrigated, olive trees and other trees grow in the area, some olive trees appear to be more than 700 years old. You can also hike here, along the coast to the south or inland along the river. Along the main street of the village are many traditional tavernas and fish restaurants. The Messonghi River lies south of the village and is actually the border between central and southern Corfu.
The coastal road from Corfu Town southwards leads directly to Messonghi. A ‘green line’ bus also runs here. It is easy to get to Corfu Town without a car. The nearest airport is Corfu Airport, around 20 kilometres north of Messonghi. The connection to the island's two harbours is also good. Messonghi has several supermarkets, bakeries, cafes, fitness centres... Here you can buy everything for your daily needs.
